B.A.( English) course was introduced in 2007. The department upgraded its M.A.(English) course in 2010. It has also been teaching Foundation English and Non Major Elective to other department students . English Department focuses on inculcating the language skills to the students. Its aim is to train the students to be proficient in English language. The Department organizes Literary Association Meeting every year and invites efficient and experienced faculty members from various universities to equip the knowledge of students in literature and communication. The students are trained to participate in various Inter-college and district level competitions to exhibit their talents and they have won cash awards and prizes.

Different journals on language teaching and numerous books are available in the library. Neo-Athenian society of English department conducted Inter-college competition to bring out the literary talent of the students. The department never fails to recognize the various skills of the students . Hence every year the students are motivated to participate in the English Proficiency test, Talent test, Quiz, Drawing and Poetry writing conducted by Shakespeare Institute of English studies, Chennai. Soft skills training is also arranged for the students every year for their personality development and to enhance their language skills. The learners are trained to choose any professions like teaching, journalism, Bank, translation , etc.

The department has 13 faculty members with sound knowledge and experience and their aim is to enrich the literary knowledge and communication skills of the students. Our students have secured University Ranks in the University Examinations. In addition to their syllabus M.A.(English) students are given coaching in SET and NET Exam syllabus as it is vital for teaching in colleges. On the whole the department focuses on the holistic development of the students both morally and socially.
